I saw a lot of creative things from running ChallengerFest. Eye opening and caused us to modify the rules a bit just about every year.

I do believe that is what Tim K. said, that "non professional" racers would be able to run 8's
Tim says a lotta things...

Doesn't mean that you don't have to be a great driver.

If you have a very tight class such as a stock car, you have to constantly monitor it and enforce rules because people will try and bend/break them.

"Bending" the rules has always been part of racing.

Yup

Which is why if you want to have a "class" you better stay on top of it.

Also, my comment on the NHRA protest. If a guy is running so much faster than the supposed index, protest, tear down the engine to prove you are legal.
With new cars, it will also have to include downloading the tune to analyze if anything has been changed.

If no one is willing to do this, then its just for internet bragging rights.

And who is stopping me from getting a D170, leaving it stock, but finding perfect conditions, and maybe hit it with 50hp of juice?

Actually, that sounds fun LOL

THIS is the reason I chose not to participate in this site any more. If you guys don't like me just that is fine! Don't be a Bully and make things up. Simple English language and you spin it around to suit your own narrative. And a handful of others doing this as well, not just you. Literally everything that has been said about me is untrue and made up to make me look bad and make you look good in your following. If you don’t like me that is fine but at least be a Man and tell me and not because of something that is not true. I obviously do not care if you guys like me or not. If I did, I would stick around and try to fit in. But then I would hate MYSELF. So that is not going to happen. I rarely look on this site any more but someone told me about you guys starting in on me again. Bunch of losers. It's like a click or a cult, the group that does not like me. All talking shit about Dodge and not one positive thing to say except about their Corvettes or Porsches and so on..........Don't bother, I won't see it.
Wait, what? I thought you chose not to participate in this site anymore...?

So, which is it then?

Like most internet drama queens, you just can't help yourself and came RIGHT back.

And as far as having your hand out and asking people for money to help out with your racing hobby, you did it, so own it. Some folks decided to do so and good for them, it's their money so have at it; the whole begging to begin with is what's so unbelievably entitled, obnoxious and pathetic at the same time.

As someone who land speed raced motorcycles (and my Hellcat once so far...) there's an old adage that if you want to make a small fortune racing, start out with a big one...

Guess you missed that one, or from your attitude feel it applies to everyone else EXCEPT you...and you call some of the people here "losers"...

In racing if you're not cheating you're not trying. Been that way since the days of NASCAR requiring roll cages and teams put in plastic pipe filled with extra fuel.

I think it unlikely these can run 8.90 stock. We won't know what Dodge did to the test cars to make them do it for 40 years.
Why? The mph is just about there already, get 1500 miles on one of these it's going ro make even more power and most importantly the suspension will loosen up. The car has the hp to go Into the 8's. It takes a lot of work to run 8's.

At the first Legions event they were going to have someone from SRT check the tune, but it never happened.

Can some one download the stock tune and have it on display/posted for all to know what it should be?

Wonder if you could run a dual ECU

One that is tuned and one for "testing"

I can't leave shit alone, sorry. LOL

Launch control and line lock work at 500 miles not 1500.

I just think it's gonna be tough. It's an exponential problem the faster you go.

Ripa just posted the weights of the stock D170 aluminum wheels and tires and they're HEAVY. 59lb front and 64lb rear

Speedy,

I agree with you, that is why Ron is running skinny up front. The carbon fiber wheels are probably substantially liter and needed (IMO) if running 8's STOCK is the goal. Using race seat, aftermarket wheels/tires, elimination of anti-sway bar and all the things Jack listed are the shenanigans pulled to achieve an 8 second pass and claim that the car is stock.

The carbon fiber wheels don't save very much and kind of a head scratcher for me at $11,000. Much lighter, cheaper, and I'd argue better options available.

Carbon fiber rear 17x11 wheels are 6lbs lighter than the aluminum rears. Carbon fiber 18x8 fronts are 10lbs lighter then the aluminum fronts, so like 32lbs total. That's not very good bang for buck and people I've known with CF wheels on other cars had durability problems and removed them.

For comparison my $220 Racestar fronts with M&H front runners weigh 38lbs, so 11lbs LESS than the CF front. Dodge coulda done a lot better here I think.

Carbon fiber wheels are for the museum cars.

Unsprung weight reduction equals somewhere between 4 to 8 times the sprung weight reduction. Carbon fiber wheels at $ 11,000 is relatively cheap for carbon fiber wheels. The durability issues is with low profile tires, the 170 does not have low profile tires. Let's see if the 170 can do 8's with the stock steel wheels, I doubt it.
