So with the 170s there’s no race only center stack and pcm huh? Interesting what e85 can do over race fuel

I can't think of a lot of other places I would rather live though. I grew up in Minnesota, don't think I could do winter again after being away for many years! :)

I know Ron was testing yesterday at Irwindale (1/8 mile). We have a Race in Bakersfield (Redlist) that Ron has always run in the past. That is Dec 9th. Good track, good prep, good air. If anybody is going to throw down a 8 second number to establish what’s what with these things, I would expect that’s where and when.
8 sec. cars off the showroom floor..w air/stereo...and creature comforts...and we thought the 70's were fast..;)

I’m betting a bunch of these things show up for the Legions event in Dallas in January. It looks like more are wanting to race them than back when the 2018 first came out. Yes they are going to be DA chasers wanting a radial prep to run the numbers. Their competition will be with each other and that eight second number. What I’ve seen after only the first week is what looks like a 9.3 car out of the box. That’s a long way from 8.9 and those .1’s get a lot longer the quicker you go. Key numbers to watch are those mph numbers. 119 in the 1/8 and 148 in the 1/4 so far. That will not produce a eight second run. If that advertised 1025 hp number is actually correct then that’s in the 900whp ballpark and those mph numbers are exactly what I would expect. I still think we’ll see 8.90’s from the guys who employ all the tricks, but they will need more mph to do it. That’s where that -0 DA is going to come in. One of the things I question about the “official” numbers set by Dodge Marketing is that 150 mph attached to the 8.90. It’s too low. That tells me that their tricked out 170’s were very light weight. They probably Swiss Cheesed everything out of sight in those top secret 170’s down in Louisiana and then dumped them in the swamp when they were done. Here’s one of my pre eight second time slips and you can see the mph it takes to do this. 84F8EAD7-4DFF-4FB8-B622-91B702407886.jpeg

I disagree with that. Just need some good DA
Ripa was in super -DA and still only went 9.39.

That would explain why his mph was higher and his lousy sixty kept him from going quicker. That time slip I posted btw was against one of the faster original Demons back then. You can see from his numbers, these 170’s are ALOT faster!

They should be significantly faster considering the r&d that's been done.

I think Ripa was in +400 DA. Good but for what I normally see, but certainly not incredible by any means. Dodge wouldn't have to swiss cheese or do anything physical to their test cars. I've always bet they put special tunes in them. A little more RPM, a little more timing, bingo. If these ran 8.90s out the box there'd be no "chase" and excitement following the cars. Everyone would go run 8.90s and everyone would move on. Instead they'll spend 3 years chasing the number ;)

Playing with the Wallace Racing Calcs 148MPH is 1,049HP, 151MPH is 1,114HP assuming a 4200 lbs car with driver. This is crank HP.

My car had a 2.7L blower on a Demon motor making 20psi. I'm still surprised how much faster these cars are out of the box than mine was.

But spending to $250-300K+ and it doesn't run as advertised would piss me off.

I do believe that is what Tim K. said, that "non professional" racers would be able to run 8's
