My brother works at a GMC dealer. Same guy bought 2 of them to flip. Made a cool 70k on each one. Had a deal worked out with another dealer for them.
Seems stupid but the only way these things are worth 200+ is because the demand is very high for them.

Somewhat like the '80 Pete I recently sold, I'm sure.

One thing I really liked was that the (air powered) wipers where completely independent of each other, with a separate knob for each side. Now some freak out if the wipers don't come on automatically if it starts raining.

You had to actually think when driving that one, which is why I liked it so much.

The old R model was a 66 I believe..2 gear shifts..no creature comforts..roasted in the summer...froze in the winter..loud as hell inside..indestructible...never got stuck with that warhorse...6 wks. ago we just put two brand new Volvo condo tractors into service...both automatics..with more electronic bullshit than the space shuttle...first time I had to move one..took me 15 min to figure out how to get it away from the dock fuel efficiency is great...but that auto is gonna suck in deep snow..

I admire anyone who can drive a twin stick. Especially down a grade and without a Jake Brake. Never had a chance to try, probably never will.

It'd probably take me more than 15 minutes to get a modern tractor going. But funny thing...the guy who bought the Pete spent almost that much time getting going. And he's a trucker.

As I have said before, I will be one of the last to embrace the EV movement.

So, where did we leave this? Got some more info today for everyone to think about with this green new deal

• The machine pictured (CAT 994) is required to move 500 tons of earth/ore which will be refined into one lithium car battery. - or one very similar to it (DGatzby)
• It burns 900 + gallons (verified by DGatzby) in a 12 hour shift.
• Lithium is refined from ore using sulfuric acid.
• The proposed lithium mine at Thacker Pass, Nevada is estimated to require up to 75 semi loads of sulfuric acid a day!
• The acid does not turn into unicorn food like AOC believes.
• Refining lithium has created several EPA SUPERFUND SITES. IT IS VERY VERY VERY TOXIC TO THE ENVIRONMENT !!!
• A battery in an electric car, lets say an average Tesla, is made of:
  • 25 pounds of lithium
  • 60 pounds of nickel
  • 44 pounds of manganese
  • 30 pounds of cobalt
  • 200 pounds of copper
  • 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic, etc...... averaging 750-1,000 pounds of minerals
  • That had to be mined and processed into a battery that merely stores electricity.....
• Electricity which is generated by oil, gas, coal, or water (and a tiny fraction of wind and solar).
• That is the truth, about the lie, of "green" energy.
• There’s nothing green about the green new deal.
