I just bought a 25 dollar car condom
Wife ordered it off Amazon like all the other shit she gets there
Thin plastic with a elastic band
Goes right to the ground almost
Good for keeping the rain off or the dust off when parked inside or outside
I could have used 1 of these 35 years ago at the Super Chevy show in Norwalk as the car sat outside in the rain

Was thinking patch on the inside as opposed to a plug 🤷‍♀️

I believe tire shops prefer the plug, which usually does kind of have a wide and round base to act like a patch on the inside?

Tire shops have no choice. For it to be a legal repair the tire must be dismounted and the liner inspected.

At that point you might as well use the real thing, installed from the inside.

Took the Hellcat to the shop. Cold start on Monday and she made the most ungodly knocking sound. Something in the bottom end is not happy. Scared the devil out of me. Pictures once disassemble begins.

My local guy plugs the tire, then dismounts it grinds it and patches the inside to. I've never ever had an issue with any of his repairs.
I had a screw in my DR on my trip to Michigan last year at 4 am on that Saturday, swung by and he just happened to be in, cleaning the shop and he had me fixed up and on the way in about 30 minutes!!

I have all the tools, buffer and such, and the patch plugs to do a legal repair. But haven't used any of that stuff in years.

It's so much quicker to fix a tire with a Safety Seal plug while it's still on the car.

FINALLY got the tires replaced on the Hellcat (now all 4 are dated 5024). Guy at the shop said the supplier gave them a real hard time about returning the 2 'stale dated' ones. I told him the fact that they sent them means he has some sort of issue/scam going on. Either 1) his inventory control/rotation is shit or 2) he got some deal from the plant to take those older dated tires or 3) he bought some inventory from a place going out of business. Regardless, I for 1 will not eat his issue or bail him out.

On-wards to finding a shop to do the alignment now.

Next up is the OE stripping that is beginning to fade. Not sure what I want to do with that - stick (har) with the fake carbon fiber or do something different. Guessing whatever I choose will need to exactly fit the footprint of the OE stripes since the paint underneath them is going to be very different from the 'exposed' paint on the rest of the car.
