Yep, that sounds like my attempts with the 'Cat, except with the "uphill" at the road, and ditches and fence posts instead of trees.

At least I can blame it on the tires - that I put on it.

The CLK was a long time ago, they may have been summer tires. But that is absolutely no excuse to cut all power because of a little slippage. What if I was taking my wife to the hospital for an emergency? MB says, sorry, we are slipping, you need to wait until spring! I hate companies like that!!! I will NEVER buy another MB!!!

When those little Mercedes SUVs came out I played in some large sand dunes with one. Wide tires and enough power made it quite capable...until...

Decided to shoot a bowl, going up a slope at a slight angle, then sideways towards the top (or as close to it as the vehicle will make it), ready to floor it and steer downhill quickly.

Well, the first part worked great, but once perpendicular to the slope it cut all power. That's the worst possible time as it's quite likely to roll over when you can't give it any wheel spin, or make it point downhill.

A friend gave me crap about my driving abilities, he hopped in it and the exact same happened to him. Dumb luck that neither of us rolled it. Afterwards we concluded that yaw sensors and other nannies had decided that we were about to die, so the electronics shut the power off. Which could've made us die, or at least get hurt after (most likely) reaching the bottom of the 200-foot slope.

Have I ever mentioned that I don't like nannies?

Reminds me of my wife's CLK430. Very nice car most of the time, but it was a stupid POS in snow.

One early evening I'm expecting my wife to drive in any time, we had maybe 1" or less snow. She knocks on the door, where is your car?!?!? THAT STUPID &#!*$&*^*^*&!@^($^*^@&*^@^ IS 100Y DOWN THE DRIVEWAY!!!!

We have a small hill at this end of the driveway before you get to the house that has a slight incline, maybe 15' over 50y. That stupid MB would not power up the incline! Even with TC off, as soon as that stupid car sensed any slipping it would stop, even at WOT!!!

I had to back up maybe 1/4mi, and drive as fast as I possibly could drifting around the turns lined with 18" pine trees trying to get to an escape velocity that would take me over the last hump! After 3-4 tries, faster and more exciting each time, I made it to the top. WTF! It snows in Germany, don't they know how to make cars drive in snow!?!?! I hated the car and MB for that!!!

My E320 had a snow mode.

Fun toys put away a little earlier than usual this year as I’ve got shoulder surgery scheduled this Wednesday and I’m going to be out of commission for a few weeks. Oil changes done, summer tires removed, leather interior treated, and trickle chargers up and running. See you guys in the spring…
