Thanksgiving

Two days away...(man time flies)...So how big a deal is Thanksgiving for you guys...who travels..who hosts..who does what ....for my extended family it's a HUGE deal...(bigger than Christmas)....family comes in from all over..NYC...Texas..Colorado...Fla. My sister always hosts the festivities..(34 people this year...)..my 96 yr. mother gets to see all her children..grandchildren..and great grandchildren all together...Starts Wed. night with a get together..then all day Thursday...and through the wk.end....our family has a lot to be thankful for...(not a liberal in the bunch)...hope all you guys enjoy the day

Three sons, their wives, and six grandchildren come to our house. No surviving parents of my wife or me. It’s a joy, but hosting is a ton of work.

Not much happening this year, we host, mom used to before the divorce and she did the same large groups. People come from everywhere and as many as 40-50 for Thanksgiving. Sadly, most of the family is gone and the few that are still here have other plans this year. It's ok though as we too have much to be thankful for and we will just celebrate on a much smaller scale this year.

My sister..my mother..and I all live within 500 yrds. of each other on the same street...my sister..(host) has a huge house,,(7 bedrooms)..my mother another 4..and I have 4 as well...NOBODY stays in a hotel...fri..sat...sun..it is breakfast/brunch...all day with people coming and going...it's a TON of work,,but all the girls chip in...amazing holiday

No family get together this year. We wait until Christmas to visit our kids and grandkids up North. This year, one of our neighbors is hosting 16 couples for Thanksgiving so we’ll be there with our friends.

WHEN YOU KNOW...YOU KNOW... for the sake of the New to the party...Long ago..(well not that long ago),,and somewhere back in the bayou...a strange unexplained occurrence...(well none of us buy the "official" report)...A shiny TorRed HC..met it's unfortunate untimely fate...a belly full of undigested Turkey and dressing...with Bourbon soaked pumpkin pie...washed down by yet more Bourbon...led to the HC mysteriously traversing a deep ditch..followed by a roll over..and possibly an end over end....said driver..."HUNTER"...escaped dazed but unhurt and fled into the nearby swamp to avoid the authorities...reportedly submerged in the swamp for days..with the aid of a makeshift bamboo breathing tube...only to emerge days later claiming a stuck floor mat...throttle malfunction for the ultimate total loss of the HC...it is reported the insurance company tried to subrogate against dear ole "Aunt tillie"...for contributory negligence for serving a very inebriated Thanksgiving Day guest...(again see: HUNTER)...so my fellow new Forum members...as Paul Harvey would say:...and now you know the rest of the story...

My huge Italian family is filled with jealousy, narcissists and drama queens (and Kings). When I finally realized this in 2018, I made the sign of the cross and said, "that's it, I'm done". Haven't seen those losers in 6 years and I'm so much better off for it. I'll be home relaxing.
