I'm watching Youtube. 727SRT is driving the Black Charger. is he on the forum? Amazing how fast some of those rice burners are a 9.5sec Honda. I never would have thought that from a 4 banger when I was a Nissan mechanic in the mid 80s.

Never take those imports for granted. Some will run 6s.

I won a few bucks racing those cars in my 74 AMX. That was the 1st car I raced at Union Grove in MA's 2010 R/T gapped him by 2 cars. too bad they were made during the smog era.

Did either of you simply find a set of pre-smog heads off a 389 or 400 and bolt them on to the ‘78 or ‘79 Pontiac 400?

In one day we simply tore it down to looking at the pistons, bolted on the different heads, mid-rise, dbl pumper, headers to the stock exhaust, just a bit of strange adjustment on the valves and? Fuckin amazing!!! Back to 10:1+ compression and free breathing! Busted the clutch/tranny many times after that. But blew off about anything in sight on the street at the time.

I remember I read about the swap in a magazine at the time to fix that smog motor quickly. Found a 389 w/6 pack in a junk yard and gave the dude $30 for the heads we quickly removed for him! Those were the days.

Seems like our platform isn't having a great showing? that poor green challenger should have put a Whipple on and gone way faster for way less than those turbos. When will people learn that Turbos on our platform do not work without major weight reduction and built engines.

Yeah they dyno great. Never really done well with anything else though. I'm not a dyno person. Mine has not seen a dyno since I've owned the car. Trying to push through the blower is just a huge restriction. Probably would make a great street car or roll race car. But man he's making a fool of himself at the drag strip.

What times has it been running I havent paid close enough attention. With the 3.8 out now I bet we see less turbos.

Dynos are nice for tuning in wot sometimes. Problem is with 1000 to 1500 hp cars on our platform is there are a lot of conditions to take into account when adding timing. A lot easier with some of these cars remote with a dyno. But thats just step 1. There absolutely needs to be track tuning on top of it.

Did you see it on Facebook one of the hellcat sites? I thought this one had no blower. As far as dynos, I'm on the same page with you

3.0 should be all I need. Once you get a little faster then where we are at you will need an engine and trans and rear, etc. This is my daily driver, I just want an 8 second time slip

I saw a 11.2 from it. Must of been after we left. Not a good showing for that car and they keep calling it a Demon.
