LOL. Thankfully the EPA isn't up here.
The downside is somewhere in the last ten years we follow the California emissions laws. I may have to order carless mids sooner than planned.

LOL. Thankfully the EPA isn't up here.
The downside is somewhere in the last ten years we follow the California emissions laws. I may have to order carless mids sooner than planned.

Ok I started measuring stuff today . WOW what a pain lol I measured the bearings about 10 different times , 10 different ways . Here is the final results....

Journal #1 - 0.00147
Journal #2 - 0.00152
Journal #3 - 0.00147
Journal #4 - 0.00165
Journal #5 - 0.00155

Also the thrust clearance is 0.007

Tomorrow is rod bearings clearence day and rod and piston assembly .
Man these engines are " tight ". Lol because I'm using a factory crank I used factory bearing according the the bearing series that is laser etched on the crank . I'm using amsoil assembly lube . The crank rotating torque once it's all torque in is less then 1 ftlbs .

Also it's hard to take pics once I get going as my hands get oily and dirty and I don't want to wreck my phone .
I cleaned out all the passenges and run a tap in all the treads . No surprise being a brand new block the treads were all good . These blocks are ready to go right out of the box if you use all factory parts . The machine shop said it needed very little other then the torque plate hone to fit my custom pistons .

Well I did the rod bearing clearances today . And rod to piston assembly.

All 4 rod journals on the crank were all dead on at 2.12598

Bearing clearances ended up being .

#1 0.00147
#2 0.00175
#3 0.00157
#4 0.00123
#5 0.00175
#6 0.00157
#7 0.00147
#8 0.00165

On a side note 2 of the bearings were tight at 0.00118 and 2 were loose at 0.00196 . I swapped the bearing halves around and ended up with 2 at 0.00175 and 2 at 0.00147. .
Check out the wall thickness of the wrist pins . They are H1 tool steel .220 wall pins .

What ring gap you shooting for?
The ring manufacturer has a formula for the ring gap . See chart . I'm going with the medium boost 15-30 psi gas/alky/E85 .
So I will end up with 0.030 top ring and 0.026 send ring gaps. .
