Thanks for let me in the club! Lol. The reason for joining is because I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2015 Challenger hellcat. This car has been in a climate controlled garage It’s entire life. It has 218 miles on it. So I need opinions. I know I have to replace the tires. I know I have to change the oil, however what do you guys think about having to flush the radiator and the transmission (six speed manual) Would you change all the fluids? Do you think it would be OK to put new tires on it and drive it with the original oil in it to a shop to have all these things changed because I can’t do it here. I hate to have it towed here and then towed to a shop. I’m not gonna drive it much with 10 year old tires on it and this time of year, probably not at all until the salt is gone off the roads. Anyway, I could use some opinions from people who know better than I do! Thanks.

Welcome and congrats on the low mileage find! Hard to believe, but that car is already 10 years old ---time is flying. I would change ALL the fluids. Ideally I would also change the oil before driving it, but I am guessing it has been recently started with that oil anyway, so I would think its ok for a short drive to get all the fluid services caught up on. Just take it easy on the motor since it has old oil, and its not even broken in yet. Sure its technically an old car now, but where it counts its still a brand new car. Be nice to her for the first 500 miles.

Post up some pics of that beauty!

Thank you, I figured I was going to be changing fluids but I was hoping I would be able to drive it a short distance to get the fluids changed. I’m not going anywhere until I put new tires on it. The tire is being 10 years old, scare me a little. Really appreciate the response!

Congrats and welcome to the forum. The only thing I’d worry about for a short trip would be ten year old gasoline. I wouldn’t even worry about the tires unless they’re summer tires and you have below freezing temperatures.

Thanks, I’ll have to ask when they put gas in it or how old the gas is.

Drive to get the oil changed and have them check all fluid levels also. Take it home and have your preferred tech do the fluids. I would not worry about driving a couple hundred miles on old fluids especially if it has been properly stored. Don't worry about the tires until you get home, it is not yet broken in, you won't be racing or doing doughnuts, so don't worry.

Don't forget to change clutch and brake fluids.

It looks like you are buying a gem, good luck and post pics!!!

Then bring it up to Land Speed Trials!!!

Thanks, I have checked on cost to change all fluids and rear gear lube but overlooked clutch and brake fluid. So thanks for the reminder! Be assured as soon as I get it home, pictures will be taken and posted! I will want to show it off!😎

So what's the story on 218 miles in 10 years? Was the seller one of those that thought it would be a million dollar car in a few years or???

So what's the story on 218 miles in 10 years? Was the seller one of those that thought it would be a million dollar car in a few years or???[/QUOTE buying it from a certified “car nut“. He has a small dealership here in Virginia that sells classic cars. But this car was bought by him for personal use. He decided to park it because it is the first year hellcat and he thought it would be worth a ton of money someday.. So the 218 miles is all that was put on it. He even put it on a rollback in 2021 and took it to have a recall taken care of. Pretty meticulous, kind of guy!. I think the price he wants is fair but when you look at the tires that have to be put on it and all the fluids being changed then it gets a little involved, but I believe it should be good if I can get it for a decent price. Lots of snow and salt on the roads here in Virginia right now. So next week I’m going to test drive it and as long as the test drive goes well, which I certainly believe it will, then I’m gonna pull the trigger. I appreciate everybody’s help on this form and I look forward to conversing more and posting some pictures! Thanks.

It's out in the barn and it's cold and I don't feel like getting off my ass to go look if it is shared fluid because I don't remember and it's nice and comfy here by the fire! Hey! I'm old!!!! You'll find out some day!!! ;)
