I teach at a liberal university and you are mostly correct. I'm no liberal though and can tell you that you would be surprised (and happy to see) that there are students that hate the liberal bias they are being fed by some. There is hope. The problem is that many of them keep quiet about their political stance because they are afraid of retribution and condemnation by the left. Now that's B.S.

God bless you for putting yourself in that situation. I do have hope that the lightbulb will come on before it’s too late. How shameful it is that the students with conservative values feel they must remain silent.

I serve on the engineering advisory board for a university. Interestingly, the Dean seems to have fairly conservatives views, but I question many of the professors. Then again - it is engineering which, by its nature, is pretty conservative.

Up to my mid 20;s...I was a liberal...by the time I was 30 I realized it is much much better to be rich...then to be looked after..I embraced capitalism and never looked back

The problem is those 70% polled are working 100% of the time and don't have time to piss and moan (aka influence) on social media like the malingering 30%. The irony is that eventually those 30% who demanded all of this change will end up paying for it, and become of a more conservative mindset. When you have real responsibilities your perspective changes and you demand prosperity.

Millions of people cooped up in a metropolitan city, scrounging to survive and have nothing to do living inside a very expensive box with nothing more than their phone and a data plan, do not have the same issues as a person in the mid-west/rural area with space. So at that point you just focus on what you are fed or can find in order to express your contempt for your life.

My SIL/BIL are a perfect example of this, new parents (who gave their child a non-binary name) in a condo/townhome in the city, their world is all about getting out because they have to (vacations, bars, events, etc) but have yet to realize the true cost of having a family. Us? We live on 3/4 of an acre in a quiet subdivision in the country which is bigger than the park in their neighbourhood. Our kids have room to run and play, can ride their bikes in the street, a trampoline, a large splash pool, and a play structure all on site... and a huge park a few minutes down the road. They see horses, cows, deer, foxes, wild turkeys, rabbits, falcons, and so on right out their back door. In a few years our niece is going to have her phone and a lot of boredom to contend with - oh and not touching anything inside Mom and Dad's freshly reno'd box (our walls are scarred from play - and I just glued a Hot Wheels track to the wall). Now imagine being in a high-rise apartment surrounded by millions of other miserable people...

If you'll excuse me I am going to go out to my 1200 sq/ft garage and build something.

Yup I never go downtown unless I really have to. I cant stand large groups of people. I could never live in a apartment or a downtown environment. I would rather live in the middle of nowhere. I am anti social. It helps keep morons away from me.

So, I could not find the racing in Mexico thread. But I know one thing, any Hellcat will mop the floor clean roll racing a Tesla. Maybe not at a stoplight, but after we are in motion, FORGET IT! Why? One of those idiots decided on the way back from breakfast in Mexico this morning to attempt to go around my Tahoe in an aggressive manner starting at about 70 mph. All I'll say is the SOB could not even get around an old Tahoe! Granted this old man has better than average eyes in the mirror regarding the beginning of that bullshit, so my accelerator pedal was engaged at an appropriate time. What a fool, and I just cannot wait until something like that happens when I am driving my hot rod.

Keeping in the spirit of the thread, hell yes we DO have some of the baddest cars on the block.

America and Canada are just way to big for any of this bullshit. People who come up with it are city dwellers who live in million dollar high rises and try and dictate how the rest of us live. They will figure it out fast when people like us are cutting down every tree to keep ourselves alive when the try and eliminate carbon. Their ideas just don’t work. Technology works slowly with occasional bursts. You just can’t rush it. Millions make their living in the energy and transportation industries. Now you eliminate their way of making a living all at once? They are not just stupid but literally insane. Remember this when you vote. We will know when it reaches critical mass when people start leaving our countries instead of coming here.
