I do feel lucky to be able to call this work when I do it. As far as the weather comments….y’all have definitely been talking to @Jimmy N. way too much!
Yeah I’m sorry I’ve never been able to drop by your place when I go back to Minnesota, those trips always seem to get scheduled full before we even leave! Next time - since we only go back in the summer I need to make it a time when you are racing up at BIR.

If I start a vehicle, it'll be driven at least 20 miles, or whatever it takes to get the oil warm. Although, with smaller and lesser vehicles I do indeed make a fair amount of 1/4 mile trips. Taking the trash out to the road, for example.
But then it's at 4-6 mph, and time isn't much of an issue.

While all of us here would be thrilled to be ambushed by a Meteorologist, if I remember correctly, @Jimmy N. would also be thrilled to be ambushed by an Entomologist.
It's still fun going fast, especially since the roads aren't overly straight, but you're right. Just sitting there at 120 (on the straighter sections) or so does get old at times.
But, I generally catch one or two per 50 miles, and then get to listen to the glorious exhaust as I floor it.
And now during tourist season the roads are jammed. It's not uncommon to have to wait for a vehicle to go by at the stop sign by the main road.
