I call BS on this one.

The Hemi and L body cars are Dodges license to print money. Going 'paperless' cold turkey would be the worst idea in the history of bad ideas for Dodge. It will take at least 10 years to slowly transition over to full EVs, and Stellantis even published that road map.

Trust the real Mopar sites like Stellpower, Mopar Insiders and Allpar which have better intel than the click bait sites like this one. Motor Trend got it right although they had nothing new that hasn't already been talked about on the Mopar sites.

Don't forget the staged reveals coming up in a few weeks, current (finale), gateway (ice redesign with optional hybrids), and future - EVs.

The ICE bans don't give them the 10 years. By 2025, EU emission regulations will make ICE practically impossible. California is already talking about moving their ICE ban up to 2028! The 13 or 14 compact states will follow suite.

So that's my problem with these EVs. Our tax dollars are going to people who buy them. WTF. I don't blame you for cashing in but damn.

I live close to where a lot of Nissan products are manufactured so friends and neighbors work for them. One of the biggest problems they had with their Nissan Leaf EV was how to convince buyers to buy a new one every 3 years when the battery went flat. Battery tech is getting better, so now 3 years may be 5 or 6, but batteries don't charge forever (yet). We need a few years of hybrid to let the battery tech get to where it needs to be, charging infrastructure, and real renewable electricity to charge them with instead of coal and gas powered power plants.

I've got an RC truck that's lithium ion battery powered. That thing will do a legit 70mph so freaking fast. It's awesome for about 20 minutes until the battery goes flat and take 2 hours to charge back up. I also have to keep the batteries in a special fire proof box with vents to avoid burning the house down, so there's that.

It's .38 cents US a gallon tax on each gallon of gas around here give or take. A lot is for road repair etc. Some federal, some local.

We also pay a tax on tires for the same thing I believe.

E85 was the last renewable energy plan for automobiles and the gubment offered incentives for that up until 2019. Not many new Flex Fuel offerings now I've recently learned. Funny how things stop making sense when our tax dollars aren't thrown at it. That one became a fuel or food problem I guess.

Ford has already announced they'll be making ICE engines for a while and the head of Stellantis said it doesn't make sense either.

When these cars can't be charged the battery start having problems and cost more than the car to replace and we can't figure out how to dispose of the batteries or where all the nickels gonna come from that's when the real story will be told.

My Challenger makes me happy just looking at it, and obviously even more so when driving it. That would not be the case with a Charger. Okay, driving one may not be all bad, since then I couldn't see what it looks like.

Top speed? Almost irrelevant for me. So far I've only made it up to about 170 of the theoretical 199 mph, and don't expect to go much faster than that. Which I can blame on the less than straight roads around here.

The charger absolutely drives better, looks are subjective. Challenger = old school retro and charger = new school muscle car infused with some old school characteristics.

Both are great cars in their own right the challenger probably performs better at the strip whereas the charger is a more daily drivable vehicle.

I mean, I like putting kids and adults comfortably in the back seat sort of functionality… but that’s not for everyone. Challenger guys usually don’t have friends to ride in the back and they lack the sort of sexual partners that would lead to offspring.
I agree the top speed is irrelevant, I guess more indicative of the sleeker lines of the Charger than the shoebox Challenger.

It wont be decades it will be years when a battery charge goes a 1500+ miles easily. The new Tesla's were rumered to go 600+ and were just scratchiung the surface of EV technology.

I see that I have one huge advantage here, not driving my Challenger daily. Heck, I think I managed 200 miles on it last summer - which is basically driving it once.

And I have to admit that the Challenger GT I had a for a while drove better. Partly because of being some 500 lbs. lighter, and probably also because of being AWD. Is a Charger better yet? I will never find out, as I flunked getting a chauffeur license.

Also, should my luck run out and I'd end up with kids, well, I know they make receivers for the AWD, so they probably fit a real Challenger, too. Then the screaming little bastard(s) could ride on a trailer.

You quoted my statement previously. I think they're gonna try to jump straight to electric and it'll be a disaster for them as a business. I wonder if they'll survive it. Had they gone hybrid for a few years, then electric would have made more sense.

What we should really be doing as a country is focusing on comfortable, clean, highly available mass transit for people that want cars to drive themselves while they surf Instagram.

The only people I see driving EVs are the hipster skinny jean types like stand in line for the latest iPhone, or older women. That's going to be a difficult stereotype to overcome for "brotherhood of muscle" buyers.

Well poke...guess we knew it was too good to be true...today @ work I was thinkin bout this new offering..the last bash from Dodge...it started to bug me...so I called my salesman I got my HC...and Demon from..@MSRP...and a dollar under MSRP respectively ...he knew nothing about the car..(go figure)..he called me an hour later and said info is sketchy..we are a big SRT dealer...so we may get one...I said...does my MSRP deal apply...he said of course...I said I'll see you tomorrow with my deposit...just write the receipt for the challenger @ MSRP.....just when I thought it was going to be a boring winter...maybe if they get one...I might get lucky...

Federal law requires all batteries to be fully warranties for 8 years or 100000 miles, last I checked. CA has gone to 10 years and 150k I think (sorry, doing other things right now).

I understand tax bebefit concerns but if the bats are warranties completely for that period then I am far less concerned. Now requiring them to fix within a reasonable time period is the key

Maybe, I don't keep up with the electric stuff to know, but I do talk to these Nissan folks quite a bit and that Leaf problem was a thing. Been 5 or 6 years though so things certainly could have changed.

I think the big push right now is to improve charging times from what I understand. That's another problem is EVs are kind of in that limbo period where they're not quite there but they're rushing them to market. Kinda like cell phone a few years ago with all the differences. Now they've kinda standardized. People who buy an EV now will likely have a worthless car 3 years from now due to changes/upgrades.

That and the likely business model to have options become monthly subscriptions. You can Android Auto, $14.99/mo, heated seats $14.99/mo, super fast mode, $29.99/mo, faster charging, $29.99/mo.

Have not read any such warranties..(nor do I care to)...but I'd be hard pressed to believe any such warrantees would not be pro rated to some degree..highly unlikely 7/8 years into service anybody will give you a new battery in the result of a failure..
