FI Supercharger spacer and blanket issue

On oil on the threads, yes it will effect measured torque values but for how long these bolts are they stretch a bunch, your better off them getting a bit to tight cold as once hot they grow a bunch and if too loose because they stuck instead of spin at same torque wrench value setting you risk them leaking. I did them once dry and didn’t like how they felt skipping, jumping, chattering at final torque value. Removed them all, oiled them lightly and they torqued much more evenly and smoothly and just felt right. And that’s how I do them from then on. Think of doing it dry or wet and slippery, which is better lol
thank you, I’ll use a very light coat of oil when I torque them. Id rather them be a smidge too tight than too loose.

Here’s another point of concern for my install.

this is a picture of the belt tensioner on my car in stock form. It looks to be on the tighter side.

im worried once I install the spacer plates it’s going to be way too tight.

My car is stock other than catch can and replica wheels !!!!!!

the tensioner might be at its limit if I install the spacers !!

Just get a longer belt, their readily available in increments 5-10 mm longer possibly at your local Autozone or on line from BANDO or Gates.

Just get a longer belt, their readily available in increments 5-10 mm longer possibly at your local Autozone or on line from BANDO or Gates.
What size is the stock belt? I’ll look online for a replacement

that belt you linked to is only 5mm longer than stock.
id be more comfortable going with a belt that is 10mm longer than OEM instead. Since I am adding 10mm to the system by installing the plates.
im on the Gates website trying to figure out what the next size up belt is.

I gotta say it’s not as easy as I thought it would be finding the next size up in belt !! GEEEZZ!!

after much digging around in google, found this image (from the old forum). Gonna leave it here in case someone else needs it.

these are the Gates belt sizes.

seems like you are only able to go up in size from OEM by 5mm. The next size up from OEM is a whopping extra 1&1/4. That’s gonna be way too big.

anyone have any other suggestions to go up 10mm from OEM belt.

In this nomenclature the 580 means 58.0 the 585 means 58.5 inches and so forth so you can pick a longer belt knowing such. Look at the data off the rock auto website and compare the circumference of belt to that number and you will see they match.

It seems like that 5100585 is the same length as the OEM belt.

I tried searching for a 5100590 Dayco belt and it looks like they don’t offer that length.
I have a dayco app on my phone . I typed in my car 2018 6.2L and it shows stock as 5100580 . Then I started searching day's numbers and I got was 5100580,5100585, then it jumps to 5100600.

Ok fellers, after an entire morning of looking into this I’ve arrived at a solution.

OEM belt effective length - 1472mm
Gates K100582HD effective length - 1478mm
Dayco 5100585 effective length - 1485mm.

since I’m going up 10mm by installing the FI plates and my belt is already on the tight side (see picture above) I want to add at least 10mm to the new belt.

Effective length difference between Dayco 5100585 and OEM is + 13mm so I’m going with Dayco.

I was hoping to do the Gates green belt cause I love the green belt look. Maybe when I swap OEM pulley ill be able to use the Gates.

thank you GoManGo and Hpindy for helping me out. Hopefully someone else down the road will benefit from this thread.

To help you 100% grasp this There’s also a different nomenclature for the same bent using millimeters, 10PK1485 (1485mm long 10 ribs) is your 5100585 in inches :)

No kidding right . When I had my 15% underdrive pulley made I had to figure out belt lengths because I needed a shorter belt. I ended up finding the dayco app to find belt lengths and cross reference other manufacturers. It helped quite a bit . That's also how I found about effective length vs overall length . I'm glad some of my rambling helped lol .

Fwiw I have a ATI 10% O/D with 3 metco idlers and F.I spacers and I use a dayco 5100600 belt and it's right in the middle of the tensioner.
