Well if it must be navigated...early when traffic is non existent..would be best...

One huge reason to leave early was that it allowed me to get out of the general L.A area before the freeways completely clogged up.

Being dark it also made Latigo easier to drive since I could see any upcoming headlights, but on the other hand, didn't want to use the Jake brake and wake any neighbors up.

Well, except for one who was a complete dick. Hit the Jake by his house (which was very close to the road) even though I could keep the speed down with gears at that point.

I totally agree with every bad thing said about this driver so won't bother repeating it. However, I hate to admit it but that guy was one helluva driver to be managing that road at those crazy speeds. I wonder if he spoke english?
