Can someone explain what torque management is and how it works?

Also can it be manipulated by a custom tune?

The short story is that torque management is one of the methods used to control excessive wheel spin and loss of control. ( traction control) and ( stability control) This is in part accomplished by the use of the VVT system. (Variable valve timing) and fuel delivery. When the car is spinning the tires excessively. The ECM will change the valve timing and cut fuel delivery to reduce available horsepower. All that is required to not have this happen is to hold the Traction control button in the center counsel down until you hear a chime sound. Then all the nannies is turned completely off. CAUTION is advised when you do this. The Cat becomes a pissed off Cat at this time and will turn on you if you don't keep a tight leash. I hope this helps.

Ok thanks
I didn't think the hellcat had vvt.
So does torque management pull throttle, apply brakes or what?

Changes timing which reduces HP and torque. Hellcat does not have the MDS ( managed Displacement System) that the 392 and 5.7 has.

To the OP
Wherever it's pointed when you get off the throttle is where it's going and some times when you are spinning at higher speeds on dry asphalt this can be eventful.
If you can find a big piece of asphalt to practice on it can be helpful.
Think abandoned airport.

Another place torque management is prevalent is during shifts. With more torque management (less torque) the shifts can be made quicker without lessening the life of the driveline parts.

So can a tuner do anything to the trans other than changing shift rpms?
