I got "detained" by mall-security once for checking the air pressure in my tires...


(I was bleeding air off because one of them was a bit high after checking them with one of those fancy air-pressure gauges...)


Somehow it wasn't enough to show that I had keys to my own car...


Supervisor came out and apologized for the mentality of the guy (kid) that detained me.

OFF TOPIC WARNING...

I just had to respond to this one because it brought back a somewhat comical memory.

My nephews and his family visited our home one year. We had a big spaghetti with meat sauce meal. Sometime during the meal, the nephews daughter started acting badly, so he sent to a room corner to stand there for a while and calm down.

When her time in the corner was up, we had a real nice meat sauce red hue to our wall color with concentration in the lips area. She was very proud of what she had done.

Me... not so much...

He's probably the VP or CFO at some Fortune 500 company now and running it into the ground......trying to save his way into a profit while gutting the core business and RIF'ing the most experienced employees to reduce the cost of wages and benefits.

RIFF'ing is a dirty word.
They did that where I work.
Got rid of a lot of experience.
Then rehired them as contract workers 2 years later, thus losing any savings they supposedly had made off the RIFF's.

Yes...but you typically need a Masters in Business to understand that....or maybe that makes it so you don't understand it.
I've seen it and experienced it many times during my life.
Hiring contractors can save you some money if you need then for a short term assignment, but some companies use them for years. My current company RIF'd a bunch of people and brought in contractors...and after two years they started realizing that they weren't saving any money at all and that it would be cheaper to hire them as employees.

@Stormtrooper1320 , The wife was a VP @ USF&G when they were doing RIFs. Caused her to resign over the process and how people were treated. I called those years, her sabbatical without pay.

After a few years, she was contacted by her old boss about coming back. He said RIFs were done and things had changed.

She went back and within 6 months another RIF was performed and nothing had changed.

She resigned again and moved on for good.

The CEO was a good for nothing POS that ultimately gutted and destroyed the company for his personal benefit. SAD.
