I am a fan of mechanical gauges - I usually settle for electric. The digital gauge pods showing a number only just don't seem right, I don't know why, but I always like the sweep type mechanical gauges.
Given a quality analog gauge, you can not only quickly determine the value, but also the relative position within the range without having to memorize the range.
If you have a digital readout, you're typically completely missing that secondary function of the value....
Digital output of 220F on oil? Fine, what's the acceptable values? 250F? 280F? 300F?
There are times when digital readout works, but really for me, it's the "Lets slap up a tablet" and call it good... Completely lazy, bullshit design. No thought, no character, and also, the last thing I want to be reminded of when I get in my car is another computer...
Idiots....
