How do u figure that? Sounds dope AF to me. 500 mile range EV truck? Where do I sign up? What exactly is useless about a Ram 1500 with a 500 mile range im confused.

I think the concept is awesome dont care how fast it is what do u expect a truck to actually do other than haul shit to the dump and tow?

The concept of gas recharging electric sounds revolutionary to me......
Let me guess...tonite ya gonna be on a horse yellin the British are commin:oops::oops::oops::giggle::giggle:;)

I always felt that this setup would be very effective in heavy duty diesel applications such as buses trucks used in cities.

Concept has been around for a long time, seems odd that it takes a 3.6L V6 to spin the generator tho ??

it's 1 of Carlos's "cost cutting" schemes.

Even without the unavoidable losses of changing energy from one form to another, it still takes a certain amount of energy to perform a given task. I'm a bit surprised that the little V6 is enough for the job.

Well, it probably works okay as long as there are no long grades or any towing involved, but I can't understand how that setup could do more than the normal V6 version can - other than in short spurts.

I suspect the V6 will be tuned to run at one rpm very efficiently.
Reminds me of the Kawasaki 650 V-twin in quads in the 90’s…I think it made 45-ish hp. Was a stout motor back then. The exact same motor with different cams and carb(s) was used as an agricultural water pump…just ran at whatever (lower) rpm 24/7 for weeks on end.

Not to mention the maintenance nightmare/cost of keeping 3 'systems' going - the EV crap, the V6 & a generator to boot .

I really like the Pentastar if you’re not towing or hauling ass. It’s smooth, port injection (not many of those left these days), super easy oil changes and about 300hp. Have them in both Grand Cherokees. No complaints.
I’d rather lose all the batteries, electric motors and paraphernalia , and just run the V6 in a conventional drive train.

Yup. We have three Pentastars, and no complaints.

I know where the EV's place is, and it's definitely nowhere near here.

A market with no direction and no consumer support. Really need a 2 ton battery and 500# pentastar? Not to be provocative, but it is not efficient in any particular way.
From the "Express" publication from our friends in England.
Petrol car sales fall to all time low thanks to brutal EV targets
