I'm cleaning out an area we've been using for junk to sit in for years.
I came across this while tossing stuff. It's an aluminum block and some
other parts from an engine we killed in our Outlaw10.5 car back in the day.
It was a 706 Pontiac headed deal with 4 stages of nitrous. It broke the crank
and when the two halves tried to drive over each other it pushed the block
apart. It separated enough that it pulled one of the intake runners off of the
sheet metal intake.
This is of no real informational value but I thought some of you might get a
kick out of seeing it...

Were you able to save the car?
It broke about 75 feet from the start line so the car wasn't going all that fast compared to further down track. The diaper and the pan caught most of the liquid so it was a simple pull over and stop deal. The car was fine except for the huge amount of broken stuff under the hood.
The actual incident was pretty dull in comparison to what actually happened. It pretty much looked like any other aborted run. The car left, suddenly died and pulled over. I knew my pocket book was in trouble when the inside of the car was full of steam. It was crazy.
In the end it killed a lot of the motor, a new bolt together Chance converter and the pump part of a new Lenco drive.
For perspective: The car had gone 4.57(@3000lbs) the run before.
