As we know the factory airbox is an efficient piece for a lot of applications. My '15 'Cat has the very early JLT system that from what I'm reading doesn't seal well. Curious if it would be prudent to remove and replace with the factory air box as it seems like it would be better keeping the IAT's lower rather than a poor sealing aftermarket system that is drawing some hot under hood air. Yes I know it's a rather basic question but I thought I'd ask to se if there is any real world temp/performance difference.
Thanks in advance.

There are some really good threads on here that discuss the advantages of both types. I was having some heat soak with the legmaker and thought about going back to stock. Finally, I decided on AFE. It doesn't seal completely like stock but has a nice little heat shield and has the largest filter area I believe. Seemed to help a little... To answer your question, I do believe the stock air box will give you the lower IATs(might notice a tad gain at the track).

Track testing on a stock hellcat the stock air box with correct factory paper filter was faster then the jlt and legmaker but less then 1/10 of a second so not much. Even on modified hellcat it was faster then the legmaker. If you are in it for the sound the open filters are louder and the lose of power isn't enough to not run one if you like that

Thank you. Appreciate the offer. I still have my original stock airbox that came with the car when I purchased it.

Agreed. The only issue with that would be if I wanted to paint it the same as the rest of the car. Mine is Phantom Black and from what I've heard that paint is very hard to get ahold of and very expensive.

Yep, looks black at night but sparkles greens and blues in sunlight
Is that the color with the metal flake?

I wrapped my roof and trunk myself to match the factor painted satin hood. Also got a factory satin black shark fin antenna that they use on the T/As

Looks great like that. Phantom Black really is a great color on these. Looks like Pitch Black until it’s in direct sunlight. Then it absolutely pops.

It’s a 3 step paint job. Expensive to get anything painted that color
