I agree reductions in unsprung weight heavily outweigh (see what I did there) sprung weight reduction. I'm just not sure why Dodge decided to use an expensive CF wheel and only get a 32lbs reduction when there are what I think are better and for sure lighter weight options. They already have Weld wheels in the DC catalog I believe. Maybe it was for the wow factor?

My 17x10 Weld wheel with 305/45R17 MT ET R weighs 51lbs. Not apples to apples, but close.

Because they needed weight.
And Weld probably said they can meet the demand.

Plus CF wheels, they can tack on a mint for those.

Here's another thing....and maybe I'm over thinking it but that's how I roll.

Why offer a street car, which is what this is, with drag radials off the showroom floor, but then require 500 miles to turn on goodies, and a 1500 mile break-in. The tires will be toast in 1500 miles I think. Any owner that plans on driving the thing will have to go out and spend $2K right off the bat on street tires and wheels. What do they even get? Standard 20" body fronts and 20" WB rears and tires to match? Oiy vey.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to have a street tire setup as standard, and have the DR setup as an option at time of order??

They don't expect buyers to drive them.

Hell, they are probably counting on that warranty money they set aside for cars to show up on the profit side here in the near future.

Quick update on our Demon 170 testing… in complete STOCK form, Full Factory Interior with SubWoofer she ran a 9.39 with 87% Ethanol… We then massaged the factory tune a bit and Saw a best of 9.20 with a 1.35 60ft fighting traction issues all night… we will be doing a full report with photos and video and a car walk around tomorrow for everyone

It ran 9.39 bone stock full interior with full trunk including subwoofer. A little better than I'd have expected, but I still say these are going to be 9.3-9.4 cars mostly. Nothing wrong with that but all these people thinking they're buying an 8 second car will be disappointed I'm afraid.

I think the real surprise is it only picked up .19 with a tune. I'd love to know the MPH difference.

I believe Ron mentioned he tuned the power down & it hooked until the power curve peaked & he had traction issues
You either need killer track prep or killer tires

If you told me 10 years ago I could own a factory warrantied 4400 lb grocery getter from Dodge that runs low 9 s at 148 I would bet you drank more then me !!!
