Guess this is what happens when you are one of the 1st to go to the track, lots of publicity. What gets me is Ron has been doing the Demon thing way longer and went faster 5.93 1/8th and I see nothing on him:unsure:

They want 1/4 mile times to feed to the masses. They don’t know what a 1/8 equates to. Ron is much more capable of wringing one of these things out than that guy. The pass Ron made at Irwindale was near or over +2000 da. I checked weather and it was 75 degrees. Nice day but for sure not even close to 400 da. Like I said…. 1/4 mile at Famoso in just over two weeks (Dec 9). Wait for it.

If 99% percent of time the car runs 9's is it a 8 second car?
If it has the slip, yes.

When I used to look at racingjunk every day, many guys would list cars as 8 second, 9 second, 10 second etc but didn't have the time slip to back it up.

You can build a 1500hp twin turbo car to run 7.90s, but unless you have the slip, it isn't a 7 second car.

The NHRA rules when the OG came out was 10 flat/135mph before you needed serious safety equipment. I believe that was the goal of the original Demon.
That rule was relaxed to 9 flat/150. And just like that, here comes Dodge with a car that will run low 9s and not need any of that safety equipment on a car.

But they got perfect conditions for a hero run to give their marketing department.

So is the car capable of running the number? Yes.
Will many do it? Nope.
Will all of them claim it will? Yup.

Love or Hate Ripa, he knows how to market.
He has put his Demon on every social media site to keep his name out there.

So of course he is going to get the publicity. Journalism is dead. Most of these car mag sites just repost shit they see off youtube or forums etc.

That’s why I had to run a 10 with my car… could t ride the coattails of those that came before me.

Dodge ran multiple 8.90s at several different tracks. Best DA was -340; unlike the 2018 that only did its number in Gainesville @ about -1500 DA.

Did they have multiple slips or is that Timmy running his mouth again?

Maybe you should call him and ask.

I'll take that as a no.

And I heard the same speech. But I'm not a fan and don't really trust what he has to say.

...I didn't read through this whole post..... Most early D170 times are encouraging...and somebody will hit 8s this year.
....MY thoughts... "I" personally would have driven the hell out of mine to get it to 500 miles....before I under take
the extreme scrutiny (HATERZ) will give for the cars not hitting high 8s. Honey, I will be home late; I will be out driving
the new Demon all over the place night & day to break it in, so when I run it in a few days I am at least hitting bottom 9s.

If Ripa's had less than 500 miles... which I believe it did... HE will definately run 8s broken in.
His is a stripper, so to speak.....and he knows what he is doing. ...AS will Ron S in great D/A.
If someone has a stripper with over 500 miles, and the lightest factory wheels, weighs less than 250lbs, can race...boom 8s!
Again in good D/A ...with good track prep etc. So most of the season 75*+ even with great traction.... anything lower than a 9.20 will be a struggle!

These cars are neat as hell....and have so many cool features etc.... but you gotta be able to drag race and use them properly.

Ron's with a 1.36 60ft will be an 8 in straight -0- D/A or anything negative with good track prep!

LOVE seeing people use these cars for their intended purposes.
HATE seeing the price gouging on the loaded up, especially with sun roofs etc.... and DODGE again dropped the ball on
getting them (supposedly) to the real fans and racers first.
The coolest thing to me...if you could afford these cars is to have an original 2018, then match VIN & color etc with a new D170.
That would be just great to have. When I win the super duper PowerBall....I will track one of those sets down & buy! Lol :)

I don’t think a 1.36 will do it.

I got that information from a VERY high up person who ABSOLUTELY knows. I cannot disclose the name....you'll just have to take my word.

I wouldn’t say a 8.99 isn’t possible with a 1.36 but it’s going to take a lot more than 148 mph. Case in point…. 5B98E9B6-E0C3-49FD-9FEA-D8035EEB1969.jpeg

Fair enough
So only 1 published time slip and an anonymous executive's word.

I'm not doubting the car can do it, I just hate the way Dodge is doing things and very critical of their business choices over the last few years.

Seriously, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what this car runs because that's no different from what the original one did.

I believe one of Dodge’s slips was posted here, it took a 1.2X to do it with the 170.
If you make enough power you can run an 8 with a 2 second 60’… the 170 makes what it makes and weighs what it weighs. I’ll stand by my assumption until someone proves me wrong!
For what it’s worth, if your 60’ was a 1.36 you’re not running an 8.9 on that run. lol.
