Not really. The single seat car isn’t just missing the passenger seats. Airbags, harnesses and restraint hardware, etc. The point is weight for the serious ET seeker. The full interior cars can never be made as light as the one seaters by simply removing the seats. There is a group of people who are going to use these cars to chase numbers/records. A lot better use of them rather than a bubble wrapped collector bauble.
Interesting.

Meh, I'd rather have a car that is fast but still has creature comforts. How many people care about the original Demon record now? People on the other forum didn't even remember the record had been matched by owners of the cars.

Ok, so someone had their Demon 170 inspected and turns out the black graphics are paint, however there is a satin PPF over the hood graphic. I bet it's from all the chipping issues the original Demon had around the scoop. Sounds like best of both worlds there, will make the hood easier to care for but still painted.

Can't you tell by just looking at it?

$100K car with cloth seats? I'd have never believed that if you told me a couple years go.
If you are already doing 1 seat then do lightest possible :)

I wouldn't do one seat. Better to remove them IMO if you're worried about track weight.

I'd build a race car for that. Not sure if you've seen Andy's from ECMP but it's the way to go for sure. I think he bought it for $70 or $80K and it easily ran low 8s at Moparty if memory serves. Looked like a Hellcat on the outside, had Hellcat dash inside, console, etc but I think it was actually a 2009 SRT Challenger.

The single seat guys I’m talking about have one focus. Running numbers in the Demon. Whether it’s the OG (9.65) or the 170 (8.90) they are running on the factory claims and are a single focus group. It not about going fast compared to all the other drag cars out there. There’s a bunch of us here that are faster. Way faster. It’s about beating those factory numbers and doing it on a national stage. Goals. You know those stupid things we spend all that money on 🫤

I always kinda chuckle at that. The numbers Dodge puts out I have never thought were achieved in a bone stock car as gets delivered to us end users. I mean they have access to the full engineering of the car, would be super easy to make little tune tweaks etc that no one would ever know about. But I'm a cynic there so take it for what it is

There are benefits to the passenger seat delete! Now, you're driving down the road, nobody telling you to: slow-down, look both ways, what are you doing, look - there is a cop, isn't that engine too loud, don't you dare!, you're going too fast, quit smiling and answer me, are you listening to me?, this car cost - how much!!! Yes, quiet is bliss!!!!!!

Lol. I have no doubt that the “factory” cars used to set those numbers were fiddled with to the max. Conditions that resemble another planet and track surface that would take your shoes and never give them back. But as far as that goes….. So are the guys who are after those numbers. Hell.. they’re blending fuel and reducing weight in unspoken places. I don’t knock the 170 itself, but face it… nothing special when it comes to actual performance. I just drove a stock 707 Hellcat with a e85 tune and a 3.0 Whipple that will run low nines all day long and drives like a stock grocery getter. I’d match that against one of those 170’s no problem. Pretty sure there’s a bunch of us waiting to see the real world numbers they run coming up. We should start a thread on that 🤔

Based on the parts in the car with good da I believe someone will be close to what Dodge did. Seemed the average Demon was almost 1/2 second off. I think 2-3 tenths off will be more common with the 170

4157 is pretty light. My Hellcat was 4500 on Cat scales.

I'm betting these will be 9.2x to 9.3x cars on average at around 148-150mph.
