You say that like we don't have to pay federal taxes on top that, or carbon taxes on top of that, or other just because we hate your face taxes on tax. It's pretty bad when you look at the bottom line. Except for one thing: theoretically when you need something serious medically there usually support in place to help lessen the burden or pay for the care outright (its not free healthcare, just more universal). It doesn't work well for 350 million people (due to the lack of prospective contributors), but at 35 million we're doing okay... for now. My family (nationally) has benefited many times over from massively invasive surgeries to long term palliative care to social programs to cochlear implants.

When you see what your taxes can do for you, you stop having means to complain.

Philly passed a soda tax, so hows this...

5 gallon bag in the box syrup cost .... $70
The syrup tax on that same box ... $74, so $144 per box including tax now.

This is on top of the 7% sales tax on each cup served .... ~$25

Short story, they quadrupled the tax on soda.

7% State and city sales tax combined. In the home of social service's Arkansas. Then you have real-estate Tax, and then you have personal property tax. Cars, trucks, tractors, cows, ect. and internet Tax on everything you purchase on line. Our good Democrats didn't want to miss anything!. and cigar smoking Bill C. passed the law that we have to pay sales tax on a used car for as long as it runs, and drives. I didn't state his name because most that do in a bad manner ends up being killed by some unusual circumstance. like suicide by shooting yourself in the back of the head with a shotgun, twice! I live in Ontario Canada you want to talk about taxes. We pay 13% sales tax.

Income tax

• 15% on the first $47,630 of taxable income, plus
• 20.5% on the next $47,629 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over 47,630 up to $95,259), plus
• 26% on the next $52,408 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over $95,259 up to $147,667), plus
• 29% on the next $62,704 of taxable income (on the portion of taxable income over 147,667 up to $210,371), plus
• 33% of taxable income over $210,371

Worse then the mafia.

Yep, I calculated a hypothetical 250k, that sucks! $13,500 more up there. Now currently our top rate is higher at 37%. Have to show over 500k or about $600k married to get so lucky. But, some people pay $1,000/mo easy for medical insurance. Obviously it is good to live down here and get an employer provided plan.

I almost believe there's nowhere to run ...our school taxes.(separate from ourageous property taxes)..when budgets are put to a vote and voted down...they simply hold another vote..and another..and another...till its ratified...in the interim..they suspend bussing for the students...its extortion..

You should be thanking your neighbors who did vote for the tax increase. I believe the tax was for additional support of your police department wasn't it? That's the downside to our direct democracy experiment in Colorado called the TABOR amendment. We are always asked to vote for tax increases on the things that most of us think are important...police, fire, streets, and schools (I think there is a lot of waste here personally) but remember it's for the children. I would rather support local government which is at least somewhat accountable to the public than feed more money to our bloated federal bureaucracy.

I lived in Seymour Ct for about 3 years when I worked the Boeing Sikorsky Comanche Program. I would not go back if it were raining money.

Whoa...when was that? I worked there 87-89 when we were using the S-76 Shadow as the flight test mule with the Comanche cockpit on the front. I worked in the Production Flight hangar. I used to get sent on the road a lot supporting "Worldwide Customer Service".....
