Demon 170 Gas Guzzler tax just jumped from $2100 to $3700

Got an update from my dealer who informed me that my price went up by 1600 due to (mid-year?) Gas Guzzler increase...

Guv wants it's pound(s) of flesh!

I wonder if this was specific to D170 orders?

@ this point it's just the word of the dealer....I would want confirmation from a source other than word of mouth from a dealer...is not the gas guzzler tax a Federal standard...confirmation should be easy one would think...wouldn't put it passed a dealer to try and squeeze an extra 1600 from a prospective buyer...

I don't follow up on the data regarding pricing..(though I probably should...)...and be it my HC/Demon/170...once my order was in...I never called my dealer to determine the status of my builds...they just called me when the car was in..and that just seems to work for me...

Havent read the legislation in a long time but i believe those increases are preplanned if i remember correctly. Took effect july 1 (midyear), etc.... to my knowlefge there has not been movement on legislation like this and is not.possible for fed gov to increase taxws like that without authorization (either prior or concurrent) from congress. Personally, that 1600 is low on my order of priorities.

So are you saying...the 1600 increase in the Gas guzzler tax was part of existing legislation that was to be effective on vehicles produced on or after July 1st...?..if so..are we to assume that it was an across the board increase to include all new vehicles subject to the gas guzzler tax...(just curious)...I will admit I never (and still don't) have any idea what the formula is to determine the tax assessment of a particular vehicle..
