I couldn’t have said it better. My son asked me to dinner without our wives the other night just to share and talk. He’s a blessing and has his first child (boy) due in January.

That's awesome, with both my dad and mom, and my grandparents, we lost an unbelievable amount of family history, essentiall gone forever if we can't reconstruct it. Talk with them if you have. I talk to my kids a lot (probably more than they want) and I explained to them that I do this because one day they will want the information I am passing along to them, and that I wished I had access to it now, for example.

Back in the 90's, my niece got my mother's parents together and did a 60 minute question and answer video. How they met, where they were raised, brothers, sisters, parents, how they were raised. Every thing she could think to ask.
We (the family) learned a lot from that video.

I learned a long time ago, and preach to everyone, tell people how you feel about them. You may not ever get another chance. It has nothing to do with being macho or a hard ass; in fact, it takes a hell of a lot of guts to open yourself like that. I've tried to teach it to my sons and daughter. My dad and mom, before they passed away, told me that my doing that with them had actually made it easier for them to express themselves to each other, as well as other people. And know what else? Even though I've only met a few people on here (and those from before the Hellcat even existed) I am immensely fond of all you stupid ass bastards. And stupid ass ladies, too.

My saying for years as I have progressed: When I was growing up and became a teenager I felt my parents where Stupid. When I hit my mid 20s thru my 40s I thought damn my parents where pretty damn smart. By the time I hit my 50s I was like yeah my parents where really stupid lol.

I agree. You will never regret it. I was Blessed to have had two of the most wonderful Parents that ever walked this earth. Wisdom of life beyond what they learned in school. I never witnessed them to fail at anything they started, and they finished all. My Dad was a veteran of WW2. He was a member of the US Army 2nd Armored Division Known as "Hell On Wheels" He was in the Reconnaissance Co. He and his Lt spent most of their time in enemy territory. As a child He was my rock. as an adult He was my rock. Like having a super Hero living in your home. I cherished them both. Mom was Martha Stewart and Florence Nightingale all rolled into one.But also a wiz at finance. I told them everyday How much they meant to me. I miss them still.

come on, I know you people have some pictures! We all started somewhere. There is a lot of stages one goes through in his or her life to become what they are. Some good and some not so good. It's all of it combined that make you. That's why everyone is so different. and not cookie cutter copy's. I look back, and it seems like yesterday I was starting Kindergarten. Now I have been retired for four years.
