I'm surprised you don't get more than that. I tend to get 22 and change, my girlfriend is consistently exceeding 24 mpg with her Redeye.

And that's on anything but flat and certainly not obeying the speed limit. Either of those does work against an EV, but the elevation changes (thousands of feet, usually), we can't do much about.

At one point the local Porsche dealer offered to bring a Taycan by for us to look at, but ended up admitting that it wouldn't make it the 150 miles to here (it's supposed to go about 240 miles). And that's ignoring that he'd need at least a bit of electricity to make it back down to the dealership again.

Economics aside, I can go about 400 miles with the 'Cat the way I normally drive. Probably some 25% farther if going slower and not using full throttle when passing.

That means I can easily go to the nearest large town and back. And enjoy the drive. With an EV I could go there (not enjoying the drive), and then what? Wait an hour or three for the damn thing to charge back up?

Unless, of course, it's cold here. Or hot there. Wait for the right temps to get back home again?

Very easy to find inverters, panels, and batteries made in the US. Most EV batteries are also made in the US.

It is far more economical than a Hellcat getting ~15mpg on premium fuel and synthetic oil change every 6 months. Oh yeah, has anyone done a brake job on their Hellcat? LOL. Forgot to mention that less frequent brake jobs are part of the EV deal...

I would think that any stock 'Cat should be able to get 24+ with ease.

We have cooler temps in our favor, but those are surely more than offset by the elevation changes. And it definitely helps not to have stop signs and traffic lights to deal with. Well, she does, but not a lot of miles driven in those environments.

I'm guessing that the 'Cats like cruising at 80-100 mph, but with me liking 90-120 or so, I'm only getting 22. One of these years I'll end up in the flatlands, with straight roads, and find out what they're really capable of getting.

What is all this MPG talk? It's a known fact that the Cost per Mile of an EV is more than that of an ICE vehicle. Weight that against the environmental damage mining the RE minerals, the initial cost of purchasing and installing the green energy and don't forget about the degradation of those batteries. They won't last but 8-10 years and their output slowly diminishes, The exorbitant cost to replace a failed battery outweighs just buying a new car. Now you not only have disposal problems but the country will be littered with EV's in junk yards with no resale value. The solar panels lose their output over their lifetime and will need replaced. Sometimes the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Figure all that into the equation and the EV market will fall flat on it's face. Only through taxpayer subsidies will it survive.

Right now, a dead battery Prius is worth about 5k.

Battery cost is over $15k.

If it doesn't make dollars, it doesn't make sense.

Never did get to the subject of this thread. Bullshit talking about some dude in the middle of a field in Colorado that has a field of solar cells.

Remember the story about attempting to take one on the road and they spent more time over four days attempting to charge one than sleeping? Remember when the green ones caused the price of natural gas to get over $9 last year? And gas over $5 on the average? All good until they found out batteries are from China, and they blew out the power grid in California in September when they told them to put the electric cars away because they could not import enough electricity?

I do! My utility bill for heating this joint in Dec-Jan was over $600!
