I disagree. I have not seen any sectors put out of business by government action. I've seen improved fuel.economy, increased safety, etc... and even nutrition labels on cans, all.of which were trumpeted as disasters which would destroy the entire industry. None of that happened.
I have seen entire sectors destroyed by the the voluntary shipping of US manufacturing overseas in search of cheap labor. Clothing, tools, machine tools, televisions, auto parts, etc... and none.of that was driven by government action. I was involved in it personally and it was all about cheaper bottom line and done voluntarily. Back in the 80s my economist father proposed letting business do that but saying I'd you do you cannot import it to the US but that suggestion went no where.
I just don't see this evidence of the government being lead by folks out to do in business. The management has done plenty fine on their own. And then comes for tax.payer hand outs to save them.
