Unfortunately "the dealership cannot be sued because of a legal standard preventing an employee from suing their boss for negligence, which, in this case, would be the hiring of someone who should not have been driving."
So the deceased's family sued the 19 year old w/ no license who didn't know how to drive a stick directly (no money there) and the insurance of the owner of the Jeep (plenty of money). The owner's insurance will eventually pay and the insurance company in turn will sue the dealership to recover their costs. The dead guy's family should definitely be compensated, but it sucks they are forced to go this route to do it. The Jeep owner will probably also lawyer up and sue the dealer for having to endure all this shit.
