Charger Hellcat - Eco setting perform same as Challenger?

So over in the old place (yeah I still frequent it for info - sue me lol) there’s a thread from a new 2020 Daytona owner who says his last Challenger HC would start off in 2nd and shift all the way to 8th around town but his new Daytona wont, regardless of mode. Some of us told him he was clearly in Eco in the last car and to try it in the new one. He responded by saying he’s aware of Eco and seemed irritated that we werent understanding him, yet never confirmed whether he knew his last car was in Eco which we all know is the only way to get the car to shift like that unless Im wrong. Even after mentioning Eco to him he never said he was in Eco even though he was “aware“ of Eco in his old car so that made us think he just didnt understand Eco. So after getting frustrated with our advice he calls FCA who to my surprise tells him that his car is programmed to never start off in 2nd, even in Eco.
I’m wondering if Chargers have always been different than Challengers with Eco or if only the Daytona for some reason is this way, or if there was a recent change in Chargers. Thoughts?

I'd have to se the tuning to verify . There is like 100 different shift tables in there .

Maybe chargers have taxi mode instead of eco mode ? I have never been in one so I can't verify .

Well it seems like he was driving his last one in Eco but didnt know. He wont admit it but the way he presented his questions sure made it seem like he was unaware of why his last car started off in 2nd and his new one doesnt.

Ive never tested eco mode . I will have to to try it .

@1971demon apparently had his Demon in Eco mode (little secret Demons don't have eco mode) when his wife Margaret smoked him in her C8....well at least thats what his uhm excuse is

So I guess I missed the fact that the guy drives around in 500hp mode for some reason. Seeing as how i never ever do that his issue seemed new to me. Now that I know this I need to try it. 500hp mode creates a 2nd gear start I guess. Never knew that.

Can't say that I've tried Eco, my brain must have automatically disregarded it as I hadn't noticed it . I stopped round the corner from the garage the other day and put the valet mode on, when I pulled away I thought how remarkably different it seemed, didn't notice the gear, maybe it set off in 2nd.

My 18 charger will start in 2nd in eco only.

All other modes force a 1st gear start. Even if in 500hp mode without eco. Still 1st gear. The only way to start in 2nd without forcing it in manual mode is use of eco.

It did this stock and also with a Dusterhoff TCM tune.

Did you confirm the second gear start in Eco? I tried that three years ago and considered driving in it all the time for a few minutes but decided the 1 MPG or whatever was not worth it. It's not like I flog the car mercilessly 24/7.

Eco mode is a disgrace to the Hellcat name lol. But yeah EPA made the call on that stupid ass feature. We need to do burn outs in front of these Greenies a holes homes.

I was reading the stuff. I agree with you. The dude was driving around it ECO Mode. I can’t drive mine now to try (weather) but if I knew 500hp Mode starts in second I forgot it. I did not know that either. Also, I doubt any of them are different if you try 500hp. I am sure folks can try it and tell us pretty quick.
