V86 Emissions Recall

I am a 2018.

I fixed my emissions issues with cat deletes and a curt tune.

EPA and Carb can consume a giant satchel of Richards

This is what I was led to believe by the parts department. I paid for part "53010678AJ". When I looked up that part # I got the following:


Dodge Challenger 2019 SRT Hellcat, SRT Hellcat Redeye6.2L V8 - Gas
Dodge Challenger 2018 SRT Demon, SRT Hellcat6.2L V8 - Gas
DodgeChallenger, 2017SRT Hellcat6.2L V8 - Gas

I did some digging as you gave me a moment of doubt and found that the part number is 53010846AB, so I may not have the part. This makes me sad.

Redeye and Demon driveshafts are the same.AB for both Demon and Redeyes.

I need help, opinions, or advice on the Emissions Recall V86.

I just received the recall in the mail. I noticed that the catalytic converters and the oxygen sensors need to be replaced. The other part of the recall was an update to the PCM software.

My question is what do I do, because I have replaced my PCM with a Diablosport PCM and a Diablosport tune? Do I let them replace the cats and oxygen sensors but don’t let them flash the PCM? Or do I put the stock PCM back in my Challenger and let them replace the cats, sensors, and do the PCM update? Or the third option is not to do the recall at all?

I will appreciate any input. Thank you.

There have been instances of individuals just getting the mechanical parts and not doing the PCM flash. IMO knowing what I know now and seeing what the PCM flash does (move the throttle up to 10%) I'd avoid if you don't have stock cats.

Just wondering if the not flashing the PCM will compromise the recall? Do the parts and the PCM flash go hand in hand?

If you bring your car in for something aside from the recall
Is the dealer obligated to perform the recall ?

I m sitting on recalls from last year
Cruise issues U60
Smog issues V86

Both from 2019
Not sure why some people are just getting these

My only concern is that Californistan requires an emissions compliance flag set, in the flash, to indicate the recall was completed.

Is this even a thing?

The fruits and nuts around here seem to run big brother, from behind the curtain. Wouldn't be surprised.

Yes, that's a thing. Do you have to hook the car to the testing equipment in all counties there? If so, I'd say they'll know it was not done, whether that is a fine or whatever I have no idea.

I've gotten several of my hot rods that won't pass emissions testing (full) in Texas passed (legally) but I can't speak to CA.

Whether it's an upgrade or a downgrade, I don't care. I'm not letting the dealer cut into my exhaust and "reflash" my PCM. NO WAY!!!! I don't want anyone behind the wheel of my car. I don't want anyone touching my car. It's not broken so it's not getting fixed. It will remain as is.

@Magnified - I have a 2017 Charger Hellcat and just got my notice in the mail last week. The mopar.com website has been showing the recall for my car since the beginning, but the mailing is the official notice.

Well my car is going in tomorrow morning for the recall. I asked for my friend to be the one to work on it. I am hoping that this may rectify my issue of the car going into cat over temp. Or at least make it less obnoxious about it.
If the weather holds I will be at the track on Saturday hopefully and will be able to tell if it screwed the car up at all.
I will let you alp know how it goes.

2016 at dealer getting this done. Car is stock, will let you guys know if i have any issues.
