I have a 2022 Durango SRT. I notice that when I come to an idle the temperature gauge creeps past the half way point then will start to go back down. When moving at a steady speed it goes back down and stays steady. Is this normal. I only have 16k on it

Sounding like a lazy Tstat issue

Could be lazy tstat, likely just standard operating conditions though as the stock tstat and fan settings allow for spikes to almost 230 degrees, and then when you are moving the car may dip back down into the 206 range. Also the temperature gauge doesn’t seem too linear and is designed to be in the middle at 215-217 degrees. I would highly recommend swapping in a 185 tstat, even with the car totally stock it will run 10+ degrees cooler across the board and stay in the 200-215 range(with dips into the 190s on the highway which makes the gauge look to read awfully low) most of the time instead of 215-226+ range. This has little to no effect on oil temperatures, only the coolant will be lower, oil is pretty much exactly the same. I watch my coolant and oil temperatures all the time on the digital readout. This should be the one:
