School me on spark plugs.

I havent changed spark plugs once myself in the car and since I bought it used who knows whats going on in there. This weekends activities include compression check, borescope images and inspecting the knock sensors. I’d like to add changing the plugs. Im currently running a 2.72 and have read on the old forums that 0.028 is recommended for cars up to 18psi. Here are my options on rockauto:


Can anyone speak to the items in this list or recommend another brand or one step cooler?

The .028 gap sounds good, but I think I would use factory plugs, I have never checked mine or changed either at 10k now, I was told their good till about 50k, on a 100k plug. But if I was taking them out in your case, I would go ahead & change too.

I think the stock plug is Bosch R6, double check that tho.

Oh wow, does the taller valve cover get in the way? I just changed the plugs on the Magnum 5.7 Hemi on the weekend and it was a piece-of-cake. The hardest one was the back passenger pair but a swivel adapter took care of that easy. A bit of effort to break the anti-seize I put on last time but once I got the plug to start turning, easy out. I feared the worst, missed the changeout by a good 30-50K. They all still looked good as new, all the right colors.

Took me 2 hours, on my 15 HC Charger.

Took me an hour each, on my 06 SRT and 5.7 Magnum.

It is a bitch, because no room. Not difficult. Just frustrating.

NGK 2309 should be one step colder.

And, yes, its a PITA on the hellcats due to the intercooler coolant lines and valve covers

I found work from the front to the back helps.
Driver side pop up coil and fold it down ward so once out it is upside down.
Then you can slide them out the front.
The pass side back two will make you hate yourself.
I pulled them out to the right so the tube on the left tube comes out first.
Once done all plugs on one side then reinstall the coils from front to back.
Guiding the boots on the rear passenger side is not fun.

Guiding in the tube into the hole is a PIA. you have the coil upside down beside the holes in valve cover.
you have to bend the first tube to get it started on it's decent then you have to fold over the other one. I used a small screw driver to guide it in.

I would think it depends, stock vs mods.
