Project: Garage Expansion 2021

Short backstory: I had a 30 x 30 garage at my previous house, moved to the country with a newly built house....with a front attached garage "For Her". So I settled on a 26 x 26 detached for myself, thinking all the gardening crap, bikes, etc would stay in the attached garage....I don't need as large a shop. HATED it since day one. So here we are 7 yrs later and I'm going to add on 14' to my garage. Hopefully I feel more at home after this is done.

Anyways....a couple of before pics. Concrete getting poured tomorrow. I will update as it progresses.

Best advice I got when building mine was to make it as big as would fit on the property. I was hesitant to do that, but now that I've been using it a few years I actually wish I could have made it even a bit bigger.

Having done some suspension work recently on the ground, on concrete in my garage I have decided when I get to Tampa, a full blown garage will be a must.

Love this thread, spurs me on to get on with mine.

Hoping for around 48 wide x 24ft with 2 double doors or bigger if possible. Am thinking of roller shutter to hide the workshop part and glass door the other side, garage will sit sideways on the plot so could be nice sitting on the deck with the garage lit at night.

Going to take some measurements of my odd shaped plot at the weekend. I want to do it without planning permission from local government. Theres a percentage limit we can do without needing authority and I've already got an extension on the house that has to be included in the allowance.

It'll be bigger than the shit houses they have unfortunately just built next door, shame it can only be 13ft tall and not block them out entirely.

Yessir. I'm going to take the big door out monday...likely re-install in the new front Tues or Wed.
