That sucks! I had “69 Hemi” rejected once because the some old prude with the DMV said it was vulgar. I was just renewing a tag that I had on my Hemi Road Runner for years. I was shocked. I sent them a photo of a Mopar magazine cover of my car with the tag on it and suggested that if they were rejecting my tag, they should reject 68 Hemi, 70 Hemi, 69 Goat, 69 Bee, 69 Bird, etc. They rescinded and sent me my tags.

Hell is not a curse word...are they going to censor the word Hellcat off of your car. Baptist preachers say the word all the time. I do not believe the term “give em hell” will be offensive to anybody? Give em Hell!

I once had BGAZTRK (Big Ass Truck) denied for a Freightliner Sport Chassis I owned I sent in my appeal answering the “explanation” question and said that it meant Big Arizona Truck (AZ being right on the plate as the state ID). It showed up in the mail a few weeks later. 😂

I had a '69 V8 powered MGB in CA, and did get "OMG A69" plates for it.

Years earlier I tried getting just "69" for my Harley, but that was denied. Even though I explained my perfectly sound reasoning for it. By having a plate I could turn upside down, I would only need to get a new one half as often, as they vibrated apart.

I miss the days of online DMV usage. CDL in Florida requires ALL transactions in person even for personal vehicles. But they can tell you in an instant if the vanity plate is available or lettering approved. 😂
