CF rods must be wicked in that combo wonder how much lighter they are then billet.

FORZA Tuning in Florida is building a Redeye with beryllium pistons. Im told they were about $100k or so. He also has CF rods. Its a company in Australia and he also has a one off block they made. Like a million dollar build im told. Btw, its an F1 shop that builds crazy expensive shit.

I’ve heard of C.F. pistons but not all that reliable... or affordable. Nice they’re experimenting with this tech. but can’t imagine very practical.

I dont think practically has anything to do with it. More like who has the deepest pockets......

I’ve heard of C.F. pistons but not all that reliable... or affordable. Nice they’re experimenting with this tech. but can’t imagine very practical.

I used to machine parts for a aerospace/military manufacturer out of AlBeMet which was 70% pure beryllium and 30% pure aluminum. Shit was crazy expensive, super lightweight, super rigid and really really tough to machine. It was all done with ceramic tools or CBN inserted or diamond coated carbide tooling. Some of the coolest stuff I ever did and only thing worse to machine was a nickel and tungsten infused aluminum that we made large bearings for under ground mining equipment out of but that material was almost as heavy as solid carbide.
Can't believe anyone would be making beryllium pistons, that shit is extremely toxic! I had to go through special training and wear a breathing apparatus when I machined it even with a full enclosed machine. Then had to be tested every 6 months for lung issues.

Pretty sure they banned it from a few racing competitions cause only the teams with really deep pockets could afford it was rediculous like 2 million dollars for rotors or some shit crazy lol
