A lot of hype about nothing! I saw a HC Charger running 9.9’s last weekend with minor mods. It was faster than a seemingly stock Demon running 10.1’s. He drove it to the track with his wife and young son. It was awesome to see! The Hellephant will not be seen in many if any real streetable cars. It’s hard to understand the whole scenario? Why have such big publicity about a race only motor, price it out of reach for most and then make it unobtainable?

They shut the order line down after 115 motors (they are hand built by a race shop that reportedly turns out 10 or so a month), so they sold a years worth. Some will not receive the their motor for months to come.

My first question would be who does Dodge have casting the blocks?
At one time they used Arrow, and there were lots of porosity issues with those blocks.
I wouldn't use anything other that the Gen III products block. That one has a lot of testing behind it on the race track.

My engine builder was lucky enough to get this one over the summer from FCA. I saw it in his engine room and took it off his hands immediately...$7K just for the block and that was his cost. He says he can’t get them any more. FCA said they are now reserving them for Helephant builds and race teams.

Supposed to take 140lbs off the nose. I was amazed when I could easily lift it off the ground myself.

I'm a SXT guy, but I won't be dropping a Hellephant into my car. I believe the rule is it has to be a 1997 or older vehicle, right? For emissions or something.

Yep, the alum. blocks seem to all start with the “P” I think. Notice that direct feed from the oil filter to the cam area. Different from others I’ve seen. Also cast in “SRT” on the block.

See the title of this thread as well as the first post. There were quality issues that needed to get sorted. Production is just now getting under way, so no there are none "out in the wild" yet going into customer's cars. Also, the rate of production is very low, (10/month per Cole above, if that's right) so it'll be more of a slow trickle of engines getting into projects than a flood of them popping up any time soon.
