It appears to be an original 240Z that was barely driven. The seats look a little dirty? I don't know for sure, but they look a little weird to me. The add seems to make a point of the paint only being a couple mills thick.....but that could be due to the car being buffed so many times over the years. Overall, seems to be a very nice car.

Only thing I can think of is because it is a one owner car with probably a lot of documentation because it was owned by the owner of the dealership. Still wouldn't pay half that for it.

Hmm I guess no Japs here since this car is the Japanese equivalent to a Corvette. And my dad purchased a 1976 280Z when we moved from California to New Jersey the summer of 1976. My dad kept it a secret till we as the family arrived in NJ. The quality at that time over a Corvette was huge and just a really well designed car. This was my first stick shift car which my dad was so cool when I got my drivers license he let me drive it, As far as the selling price it’s right in the ball game of most other stupid pricing in so many older cars. And as many know the 2000 thru the 2008 years we witnessed crazy auction pricing for the muscle car era. The car auctions seem more reasonable over the last 5-10 years. And at the end of the day how many people outside the Mopar family thought the Demon sales didn’t make sense? And as the saying goes beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
And here she is in British Racing Green

In the early 80's I owned a 72 and 73 240 Z and thought that they were the ticket for road course.
In 92 my wife bought an Accord that seated 4 and would absolutely kick either one of those cars ass on any road course.
And it had an automatic!

It was a rare model, and highly sought after in the import world.

Gonna start seeing more and more high dollar early Japanese cars. If you want to be floored, look up the old Toyota 2000GT models. They pull 7 figures...

Haha....I didn't even notice what the price was that it sold for!! It doesn't surprise me really though. I've seen the uber rich people pay even more for cars that are less significant. Would I pay that much for it.....even if I magically could afford to buy it?....nope. I wouldn't pay anywhere near that.

I suspect whoever bought it doesn't intend to really drive it. It'll sit either in a museum or a humidity controlled bubble somewhere....

These types of cars are going up in value and are becoming collectible. I've been saying this a long time, look at the age demographics and what cars were cool for folks that have disposable income now. Those are the cars that will become collector classics. Honda Civics are next, but the 240s have been going up in value for several years. This is a rare example and brought a rare price but overall the Japanese classics are becoming popular.

You guys know I have an old 3rd Generation 4Runner. Those bottomed out a few years ago and have also started to go up in price. There's one on Ebay right now for $37K which is a lot more than I paid for mine way back when.
