FI, yes, they help keep the blower cooler and thus the intake charge too. How much of a horsepower gain? That’s debatable but if the intake temp gets hot enough, over 130F, it does start pulling timing. That’s when they help save lost horsepower.
It will seal up your blower so you don’t pressure the crank case and blow boost into the oil fill ports. I have a lot of evidence of this happening and then the spacers sealing it tight
