Awesome cars in their own right...but talk about an aging style platform...

You definitely need to research these cars before making any decisions. So many variables.

Those center locks wheels alone are responsible for a fair amount of money.

Hell, if memory serves me, a shiny gas cap is over $300...and it's hidden behind a door anyway. It's easy to spend an extra $40-50K on options, although there are performance enhancing ones, too.

I am leery of cars with 100K+ and lots of mods. Plus, buying a whole new suite of tools and tech to read everything, retune, etc... But, as noted, that can be balanced out (maybe, or at least in the mind) by the ticket price (I think that one was showing a bid of $27K when I looked.

Yeah that's the stuff I wanna do some research on. My buddy has one and he already warned me away from the "S" with the carbon ceramic brakes. Don't wanna have to replace those and I won't be road coursing the car so don't need them. There's the "Chrono Sport Package" which seems like a must have. Center lock wheels meh, could be a PITA and I'd rather not have those.

I'm still looking. Local Porche dealer has a couple and I'm gonna pop in there to talk to them to kind of get some info.

It's been three years or so since I ordered one, but the option list probably hasn't changed much. That means you can go on Porsche's web site and build one to your liking, much like with Build and Price.

That'll give you an idea of what's available, and at what cost.

That's probably because most are ordered by dealers, not buyers. And the dealers all know that things like lit door sills are a must on a high performance car, for example.

I'm not exactly a fan, either, but having been subjected to them for several years now, I can't help but admire the engineering.

Making a rear engine car that'll hang with, or beat, C8s in racing, for example. And for us regular folks, the Turbo S's amazing performance...in a car that can be driven all four seasons.

What’s a realistic price on this thing? Lots of owners, lots of miles, modified on a German platform. Less than a new Miata?
