In this case the tire is heavier than the wheel so more tire and less wheel probably wouldn’t be lighter. I do not like the larger sidewall on frontrunners.
I was wondering that

My wheels are 18" fronts.....Racestar Darkstar and are light for what they cost....MT doesn't have an 18 that I see Hoosier may be the one....its about 10lbs lighter than my current m&h.

The Mickey Thompson sportsman radial, heavy at 25 pounds, is only rated to 130 mph. The other lighter radial they make has too low of a load. The thing about the super light hoosier is they do not give specs. There can't be a lot of strength in them at 12 pounds a piece. I have used them. But I wonder.

??? I saw a Viper run 260 mph on Sportsman radial. I was on that tire at 183 in the half at 4500 lbs. I’m currently running the MT front that’s half the weight of the Sportsman and near 170 in the 1/4 last time out. Plans are to run 200 on that tire. Stop worrying

I think he’s talking about the et street fronts, which is what I have. Weight rating is a lot less than the sportsmans, but I’ve ran them without issue

I do like those as they are radials. Radials have less rolling resistance. I do not know the formula even if there is one comparing a lighter bias with more rolling resistance compared to a heavier radial.

The ET street fronts look like a good tire but if I recall they are heavier now then when they 1st came out? Need to weigh Jons against my M&H fronts on the same scale. They are are both mounted on the same forgestar wheels

They are 17.6 pounds a piece. Not sure if they were lighter before.

There was a thread where some where saying they were heavier then that now. Remember reading it and was thinking it made no sense

Mine weigh like 14 lbs if that. My front runners weigh 32” each with tire. I bought them 2 years ago

32 pounds. Don’t go based off what a website says for delivery weight, that’s not always true. I have 18” forgestar f14 front runners

I think the demon with the crate front runners used a Mickey Thompson bias ply tire.

Started looking and seeing crates with wheels only. You may have had to buy tires?
