Changing spark plugs

Is that box ("useless"?) potentially doing anything as far as reducing IR exposure to the wiring harness from the exhaust manifold?

Cut mine out and haven't looked back. If you feel so inclined. Wrap them in a heat shield.

Cut mine out and haven't looked back. If you feel so inclined. Wrap them in a heat shield.
Mines been out for about 3 years, no none issues I know of. It’s just plastic, I hit it with a meter it’s not conductive at all so don’t know how it could be a shield of any sort short of a anti chafe wire passage, the high temp reflective wrap probably keeps the wires cooler, I wrapped everything around the headers with it including brake lines.

Now, I know to remove the right front wheel liner and un-bolt it, from the car. THEN, I'll throw it away. LOL

So I just looked in the FSM and saw that spark plugs are 60k or 60 months for the recommended service interval. I've never changed plugs based on age (assuming the car hasn't just sat forever), I've always just done it based on mileage or performance.

Anyone actually suggest doing it based on the 60 months? I've got nothing else going on and kind of feel like having a beer and working on the car, so I'm not against it! Completely stock car btw...

I think the assumption is normal, consistent, use.

Unlike oil exposed to moisture even without use, sparkplugs don't seem like they would deteriorate over time. (Unless you're talking about decades and corrosion after some use)

I'm sticking to mileage

1500 can’t do it would rather cut every single finger again and smash knuckles (and I 100% will). Been about 30k or so on e85 and I gapped them all to .028. Boost is a bit shaky up top. Going to close them to .021 (fresh plugs)

I should have cut that box out. Had to reuse my old one to put battery cable and wire harness for new headlamp to dash harness in when did swap. Maybe I’ll do it this time, I have some vibrant extreme wrap left

For sure getting rid of that damned box. The job would have taken half the time, last time... if I had removed that damned thing, or at least disconnected and moved it...

Now, I know better.

I was gazing under the hood the other day looking at things and thinking about when I do my first spark plug job. It seems that if the huge PCV humps on the OEM valve covers were not there, like with billet valve covers that I would like to get at some point, that the spark plugs at least on the passenger side might actually be pretty easy to get at without messing with the blower coolant lines, etc. and even easier if the coil plugs faced up. My question for those of you that have done a lot more playing around than me, do the OEM injector harnesses have enough wiggle room to flip the coils so the plugs face up?

In my experience no. Maybe if you move the whole bundle maybe.
A buddy of mine is selling a set of black powder coated Manton valve covers ready to bolt on. If you’re interested, let me know I’ll hook you up with him.

The humps are the killers. The other hemi engines the coils face up and it is much easier to change plugs. I spent more time getting the coils unplugged with them facing down then anything else
