New daily! First Mercedes-Benz 'The Poor mans E63'

Recently got a promotion so decided to upgrade Just picked up a one owner 2014 MB E550 4Matic. MSRP was $70k just 7 years ago! Got it for $22k OTD After Tax . Comes with a Biturbo 4.7L V8 pushing 402hp 443tq. The W212 E550 was the last V8 produced in non AMG's which makes these somewhat rare - With just an ECU swap and minor exhaust work they're capable of 540hp 715tq reliably - First video is what the car looks like.

Has almost every option along with the AMG Sport package. Looks amazing just from the video/pics - Not the biggest fan of the gray leather interior but perhaps it will grow on me.

Usually always drive to inspect before purchase but this will be sight unseen, no test drive...Had a PPI done that came back golden so have some peace of mind. Carfax is clean, all the records have been kept by the previous owner since purchased. No winters, garage stored. Checks off all the boxes and even has massaging seats!

Looking forward to the daily commute in this car, will be a huge upgrade to what is in the driveway now. Pictures coming next week once I take delivery!

They are incredible machines & a blast to drive. Maintenance can be pricey & parts/repairs absolutely insane.
Highly suggest you find an independent Euro Car/Benz mechanic shop with a solid rep as dealership service can empty your bank account in a flash.

My daughters 2013 C250 sport has been a great little car so far, it also has the AMG package. First German car we’ve owned, impressed how solidly built it is.

Nice! So far I'm extremely impressed with the build quality and attention to detail as well. Mercedes engineers know how to make a quality product without a doubt.

Already ordered new wheels/tires for the car and plan to tint the windows on my week off in August More than fast enough for a daily driver so will not be tuning even though they are extremely capable. Would be awesome but turned off on that idea after this Hellcat fiasco..Which still isn't quite over

MB makes nice rides but watch out for long term system degradation. Can be fixed of course but the costs are comparatively high. But I'm pretty sure you already thought about that.

I had the same year, (company) car, silver/blk. MSRP was high 70's. Put 90K miles on it, zero issues. The seats were great for long distance driving.

Deleted some exhaust bits today as you couldn't even hear it running. Sounds very good now at idle and WOT. Not obnoxious since I kept cats but definitely has the german muscle tone to it with some cracks/pops.

New wheels coming Friday and have a E63 Body kit on the way. With all of that the car will be perfect in my eyes as a daily driver for years to come.

Edit: Looks like even completely stock the car can give a Daytona scatpack with a tune and dragpack a run for its money! Private closed road.

Got the new wheels and tires mounted up finally!!!! Pretty wild story with these - The company that sold/mounted them rashed all 4 on the tire mounting machine, tore tire beads as well in the process, did a poor paint touch up on one that fell or was hit something, and to top it off had a broken TPMS sensor inside one of the wheels rattling around lol. Apparently a new tech did them and they didn't want to deal with shipping them back to repair/resell...Gave a full return-less refund to my surprise.

So with that odd situation settled repaired the sketchy tear in one and replaced the snapped off TPMS sensor. Looks stunning IMO!

As for the car it's been a pleasure to own so far. Only repair it needed was a new coolant hose/reservoir. Golden other than that.

What kind of wheels were those that were screwed up so badly? Did they balance out in the end okay? I would be concerned about poor construction or manufacturing defects if you're going to be pushing the car to the limit. Just seems like a strange situation.

Me personally, not a fan of the CF wrap. Or particularly of carbon fibre. I can deal with it if it is real - like a CF wing or body panel, or what have you. If it's just a wrap, I'm just not into it. I'm not saying don't do it your car if you like it, just saying not my cup of tea.

I think it would be very subtle on a gray or silver. I like the cf bits on the lower front bumper, rear diffuser, etc etc

I like the side mirror in the attachment, but that's real CF (i.e. the entire structure is formed from it) right? As opposed to the wrap.
